A threat in reference to last week's Ashburton tragedy sparked the closure of Tauranga's central Work and Income and Inland Revenue offices this afternoon.
A 24-year-old man has since been arrested for intimidating or threatening behaviour.
A sign on the Durham St Winz site stated the office had been closed ''due to an emergency until further notice''. A sign at the IRD office said the building was ''closed until further notice''.
