An online campaign calling for Prime Minister John Key to sack Energy and Resources Minister Simon Bridges is gathering momentum.
Mr Bridges has come under fire from Greenpeace NZ after signing away a 200,000-hectare Department of Conservation forest park for potential oil and gas exploration, then admitting a week later he had not heard of the park.
Greenpeace NZ launched the campaign against him after the Victoria Forest Park incident, describing him as incompetent and out of touch with what New Zealanders held dear, saying that "New Zealand deserves better".
The online campaign demands that Mr Key replace Mr Bridges "with a competent Minister".
The letter had been sent 13,808 times and the campaign had more than 8000 likes on Facebook at edition time. A day earlier the message had been sent 5000 times.
