Bay of Plenty police are warning people that some Spark New Zealand customers have been contacted by fraudsters claiming to be from Telecom.
Police issued the warning on their facebook page this afternoon after they were made aware of the scam.
"The scammers tell customers that their Spark services are about to be cut off because of security issues and then ask customers to go online to a fake Spark webpage," the warning read.
"They are being asked to give remote access to their computer and provide personal banking information as part of this scam.
"The calls are not from Spark and we strongly advise anyone who receives one of these call to hang up immediately. Do not hand over any banking information and do not proceed to the fraudulent webpage."
