Controversial economist and investment manager Garth Morgan hopes he can persuade at least one dissenting councillor to change their mind on his sculpture offer when he flies into Tauranga later this week.
Mr Morgan said all he needed was one more more vote to swing the council behind his offer to fund a million-dollar kinetic sculpture on the roadside outside his Mount Maunganui apartment block.
He hoped to be able to meet the six dissenting councillors during his short stay in Tauranga so he could explain his offer in more detail.
"The reality is that this sculpture will go overseas if we don't do it.
