The downpour that hit the Bay of Plenty last night, will continue until this afternoon.
Between 11pm Sunday and 3pm today 80-120mm of rain is forecast to fall, with the Kaimai Ranges set to be worst hit.
The MetService forecast for today is heavy rain easing to showers during the afternoon, with strong northeasterlies and gales in exposed places, turning lighter northwest. Showers will become isolated in the evening.
Philip Duncan of Weather Watch said this week's weather would be similar to the last, but come in at a slightly different angle.
"This system is with us for the next eight days, most lows only linger four to five days. The front's moving faster than last week.
