A group of environmentally focused Tauranga young people have started putting together plans for a community fruit forest in the city.
As it turned out, green minds think alike - the group has heard about a similar project getting started in Arataki.
Now the leaders of both projects are planning to meet and see if they can work together to make the dream a reality.
Tauranga Youth Advisory Group's environment and sustainability subcommittee of
Nik Tinholt, Jake Hoffart, Claudia Paterson and Chanti Boyle presented their food forest plan to the Tauranga City Council's environment committee this week.
Spokesman Jake Hoffart, a tertiary student, pitched a collectively managed community space with garden plots, fruit and nut trees, and berry bushes in Arataki.
