People are being asked for their views on the future of the Phoenix car park in downtown Mount Maunganui.
Tauranga City Council is seeking ideas about turning the Phoenix car park on Maunganui Road into an urban space, providing opportunities to generate more activity and encouraging people to stay longer.
Rating valuations from 2010 show the 6.13ha site is worth $6.43 million
Team leader of strategic and corporate planning Cheryl Steiner said the council were keen to hear from people about what they would like the space to look like and how it could be used in the future and was types of activities the area could accommodate.
"We want to hear your ideas and comments, and see photos of spaces you like in other cities. Council will look at all the ideas we get and create a plan for public consultation," she said.
