The roll out of the government's ultrafast broadband has now reached the Tauranga central business district.
Fibre optic cables will be laid from Sixth Ave to Brown St over the next three months, except for The Strand where installation has been delayed till mid-2012.
Tauranga Mainstreet manager Kirby Weis said businesses are now receiving leaflets about the work, and contractors will mainly operate in the evenings to cause the least amount of disruption.
