A small fire at the front of a Welcome Bay home has sparked a safety message from Greerton's fire brigade.
Station officer Steve Wright urged people who encountered electrical fires to call 111 and wait for firefighters to arrive, after an incident in Dunton Drive where a small power transformer ignited.
Local residents noticed the plastic box, near the road, on fire at 7.30pm and called the fire brigade. But before firefighters arrived residents extinguished the fire with a bucket of water.
Mr Wright said the brigade would use dry powder to put an electrical fire out to prevent possible electrocution.
