This years' Vintage Weekend proved to be bigger than ever - and it's not over yet.
The annual Soapbox Derby at Queens Park in Whanganui will be kicking off at 10am today with double the entries it had last year.
Last year over 3000 spectators gathered to see the homemade derbies reach record speeds and wow the crowd. This year organisers are expecting that number to climb.
Vintage Weekend organiser Sally Jane Smith said on Friday night she checked with every motel, hotel, airbnb and campsite in town and only 20 beds were left available.

"The turnout has been bigger than ever, I talked to a lot of out-of-towners who thought Whanganui was a rough old town but after being here they actually thought it was so amazing.
