A Whanganui woman was caught trading in a stolen gold diamond ring worth more than $1000 to receive $80 in cash.
Amelia Ann Morris, 26, pleaded guilty to one charge of receiving property over $1000 when she appeared in the Whanganui District Court.
Last week Police prosecutor Sergeant Rachel Willemsen said the ring was stolen from a property on Carlton Ave between July 9 and July 22.
"The victim and his wife had been away from the address on vacation and when they returned they discovered the burglary and contacted the police."
Sergeant Willemsen said on Saturday, July 22, Morris went to Cash Converters on Victoria Ave in Whanganui to exchange the stolen ring.
