Of all the things to get abused over, a Wanganui man probably didn't expect it would be the way he was sitting.
On July 4 the victim was at a residents' lounge at a hotel in Wanganui with the offender, Alexander Rogan.
They were watching TV and had been drinking.
Rogan began arguing with the victim because he was annoyed about the way the victim was sitting on the couch, police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler said on Tuesday in the Whanganui District Court.
The victim went to leave but before he had a chance to get up, Rogan grabbed him and started punching him. The victim tried to wriggle free but the two fell on to the floor, where Rogan continued to throw punches.
