Trying to drive slowly through a herd of "unruly" teenagers has earned a Wanganui man a dangerous driving conviction.
Damien Robert Black was driving along Fox Rd in February at the same time as police were shutting down an "unruly teenage party".
Prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler told the Whanganui District Court last week that police were shepherding about 100 young people down the street in the aftermath of the party. Many of the young people were walking on the road.
Black encountered the crowd and attempted to drive through it slowly as police waved at him to stop.
Instead of stopping, Black accelerated and a police officer had to step aside to avoid being hit by his car.
