Vandalism, damage, even arson - toilets in Castlecliff have been under constant attack.
But it is wrong to blame the council for the distressing state of the public conveniences, a residents' group says.
The Castlecliff residents' group has come to the defence of Wanganui District Council over its maintenance of the public toilets in the seaside suburb.
It follows a letter in yesterday's Chronicle which said that visitors were shocked with the state of the Rangiora St loos.
The writer said they had taken visitors for a walk along Castlecliff Beach but when they wanted to use the toilets found those at Duncan Pavilion were locked.
