A candlelight vigil will be held this weekend on the banks of the Whanganui River for parents grieving for children who have died.
The vigil, organised by the Wanganui chapter of Compassionate Friends, is part of an event in which candles will be lit all around the globe.
Parents and families are invited to light candles for their children who have died at any time, at any age, from any cause.
Candles are lit for one hour until the next time zone takes over, creating a 24-hour wave of light around the world.
Compassionate Friends is a self-help group of parents and family members helping each other with support and understanding.
