An 11-year-old boy was knocked off his bicycle by a motorist at a pedestrian crossing, but police say the boy was not following the road rules.
The boy was taken away by ambulance after yesterday's incident but was all right aside from "a few bumps and scrapes", Sergeant Diane Limbrey said.
He had "zoomed" across the pedestrian crossing at the roundabout on the town side of Dublin St Bridge where the accident happened just before 9am.
Ms Limbrey said the crossings were only for pedestrians, and people on bicycles needed to give way to traffic.
Constable Ivan Madder said it was difficult for cars to notice them in time as they were going faster than pedestrians would.
