A brave Wanganui dairy owner has thwarted an attempted robbery by a man believed to be armed.
The Alma Road Dairy was again the target of crime on Monday night when a man tried to enter the premises as the owner was locking up.
The man had the lower half of his face covered as he tried to enter the building at 9.10pm. The dairy owner just managed to close and lock the door before the offender could force his way in.
The man pulled out what is believed to have been a pistol and pointed it at the owner and demanded to be let in.
However, the owner refused to open the door, instead moving away. The offender headed off as police were being called.
