A jewellery thief was caught when he returned to the store he stole from six days later.
The Whanganui District Court heard on Tuesday that Cristian Alexander Fifield stole jewellery worth $57.97 from the Warehouse on September 11.
The theft was caught on security camera footage and when Fifield returned to the store with an associate six days later he was nabbed. He pleaded guilty to a shoplifting charge.
Defence lawyer Raukawa Simon told the court it was an impulsive action and Fifield accepted the need to pay reparation.
Judge David Cameron sentenced Fifield to 40 hours' community work, six months' supervision and ordered him to pay $57.97 in reparation.
