A woman who tried to take drugs into Kaitoke prison also had a sawn-off shotgun in her car.
Trisha Lee Jones was visiting her son in prison on January 26 when the metal detector went off as she passed through, Whanganui District Court was told yesterday.
Her belt and jewellery had set it off, but as she took off her shoe a small bag of white powder fell out.
She was detained and her car was searched. The shotgun was found inside a pillowcase.
Jones did not have a firearms licence, but said she had the gun to chase away animals when she was living out in the bush.
