The North Island's in for a fine day tomorrow. Auckland will be sunny and 19C and that pattern is repeated all the way to Wellington.
However, it will be cold, with frosts in sheltered areas from Waikato south.
The wet weather hits the South Island when a front arrives about midday, said MetService meteorologist Emma Blades.
"That's going to bring wet weather up to the West Coast through Saturday with some rain from Southland to Otago in the afternoon."
Canterbury and Nelson are next on the pluvial waiting list.
"There's just the odd little bit of cloud around [elsewhere], but as we go through to Sunday that front's going to continue working up to the North Island. We're going to get a period of rain sweeping up, reaching Auckland in the afternoon," Ms Blades said.
Most of the island will get at least showers and revellers at Toast Martinborough might be in for a wet one, with heavy falls forecast during the wine swirling.
They'll gradually clear as evening approaches, while the South Island should be in for a fine day after its Saturday drenching.
But mainlanders might have to keep the jandals and wife beaters in the closet as Sunday won't be a warm one.
In Christchurch, Queenstown and surrounding areas the highs won't break 12 or 13C.
The good news is that by Monday, the weather should return to November normality.
