Hamiltonian Shona Morgan returned to her Deanwell Ave home from nightshift earlier this month to find the speed limit and bus stop sign in her street had been pulled over.
A visit to the Neighbourhood Watch Facebook page revealed a further two signs in neighbouring Prisk St had also been vandalised.
One of the signs torn down was used for the lollipop traffic signs for Deanwell School.
This scene is not an unusual one and Hamilton City Council transportation manager Jason Harrison estimated the cost to council to repair and replace street signs each year was around $389,000.
"We would estimate 70-80 per cent of this cost is due to vehicle damage and vandalism," he said.
