One of the Black Caps' biggest fans Sonny Shaw hopes the Bay Oval will host test cricket.
Mr Shaw watches the Black Caps around the world while wearing a 2001 Black Caps shirt and a stuffed kiwi around his neck and waving a big flag.
He was impressed during his first visit to the Bay Oval.
"This is the sort of venue we need more test matches in. It's a great ground and I like the grassed embankments."
At the beginning of yesterday's game, Mr Shaw thought the Black Caps would be beaten, but in the afternoon, he thought the team were in with a chance of victory. He was pleased with Luke Ronchi and Trent Boult's New Zealand-record 10th-wicket partnership.
