Paradox Art Wall Walks, Tauranga
Free daily walks starting outside the Tauranga Art Gallery at 11.30am and 1pm every day, ending on Saturday. Check out the unique murals NZ and international artists have left on walls in Tauranga central city. Inside the art gallery there are more artworks, including a collection of Banksy works.
Mel Young Easter Basketball Classic
The biggest representative basketball tournament in New Zealand will see teams from the North Island and Australia descend on ASB Arena for a full weekend of playing. Admission is free and play starts at 9am Friday to Monday.
Jazz Festival
The 55th National Jazz Festival starts today and runs until Monday. Events are held all over the city, both inside and outside, free and paid admission. Highlights include Alchemy performing on Saturday night.
Ria Hall, Anna Coddington, Julia Deans and Bella Kalolo will perform 19 iconic Kiwi songs as jazz. A gold coin donation will get visitors into the Downtown Carnival - two days of music on Saturday and Sunday with multiple stages spread along The Strand. Demolition Derby, Mount Maunganui
From 6.30pm at Baypark there is an action-packed super saloon car championship featuring a demolition ramp derby, freestyle motocross, La-z-boy saloon car finale and South Pacific 6 shooter wingless spring car champs.
Easter Raceday, Tauranga
At Tauranga Racecourse, there will be top-class racing and free children's entertainment. Gates open at 10.30am and the first race is at 12.12pm. There will be pony rides and a petting zoo for the children.
Sunday
Easter in the Park, Mount Maunganui
Free rides and activities and free food are on offer at Easter in the Park at Coronation Park in Mount Maunganui. Free bus services to and from Coronation Park from Greerton and Arataki for the duration of the event - 10am to 1pm.
